I'd like to introduce you to Google Helpouts, a cool new service from Google, that launched in November of 2013!
With Helpouts, Google uses their videoconferencing platform to receive (as they promote it) "real help from real people in real time".
Check out the below video trailer to learn more about this great new resource:
Google offers these Helpouts in a variety of categories: Art & Music, Computers & Electronics, Cooking, Education & Careers, Fashion & Beauty, Fitness & Nutrition, Health and Home & Garden.
My Google Helpouts for Guitar:
A good friend of mine works for Google and invited me to become an early provider for this new service. I decided to create a listing for beginner acoustic guitar instruction and currently offer a free 15-minute session as well as a paid 1-hour session. It's been fun to connect with people from all over the world, by video, and help them with learning guitar!
You have the ability to create your own Helpout on a topic and receive payment for your services. On the site, you can setup own schedule, along with future availability, as well as set your own pricing for a Helpout. Google receives a percentage from each Helpout and takes care of all of the billing and payment information on their side.
Overall, I really like this new offering from Google. My experience with the video and audio quality has been pretty good, although it really does depend on the internet connection speed for both users. I'm just starting off with teaching online guitar lessons through Google Helpouts and hope to expand my availability later this year.
Google has generously sent me a limited number of $15.00 free promotional codes to try out Google Helpouts! Do you have something you'd like to learn or need help with?
Leave a comment below (or contact me) with a response and I would be happy to offer you one of these codes, if they are still available! Note: these promotional codes are usable until April 1, 2014.
